Wow wow wow..!
We are a whole bunch of creative lunatics that have been fortunate enough to be able to make use of an empty shop-space for a couple of months.
The last 4 days have been spent in the shop painting painting painting painting, phew... how many coats can it really need??... It's been going from dirty patchy stained yellowy walls with green worndown door/window frames and banisters, and dark brown and green terribly stained and damp carpet tiles.. TO; white white white walls! white ceilings, white bannisters, frames, stairs... And grey painted floor plus charcoal grey carpet (where floor quality was too poor to paint). Oh wow how different it looks!
This space will be used as a shop/gallery and local artists/makers/designers/musicians etc (including myself) will be exhibiting and selling our work in there, starting from this coming saturday!! Wooo! It has all happened really quickly, in one week it has gone from finding out and being given the opportunity to having 25 artists involved and many many many dirty hands working hard to make it happen!
I am really excited about this opportunity. I will be able to sell my crafty bits, such as sewn and crocheted pieces but also my photography.
AND, I will be having a studio space upstairs!
This building is 4 floors high so plenty of space to make creative work in!
And we are planning on making use of it by introducing live music, poetry nights, movie nights etc...
I will be in my studio space as much as possible working to promote my own photography but will also sew away on my pretty Singer in there and am also planning some other things in there...... but will keep you posted on that, as things need to fall in place before it can happen. One step at a time..!
But anyway, am really excited, and been down the shop most part of this week to help out, and a fantastic group of people been doing the same thing, I love to see people so enthusiastic and involved, everyone helping out as much they can to make it all happen, for all of us.
Below are a couple of pics of work in progress, taken on monday, first bit of work, only a few hour in between the shots but already you can see quite a difference.
Will post more pics after the weekend, when it is all brand spanking beautiful!
